PGENESIS
Object Tabs
PGENESIS is a software package that enables the GENESIS neural simulator to run on a variety of parallel machines (including multi-core workstations).
Purpose
PGENESIS is intended for problems in which a large number of processors can quickly perform a simulation or set of simulations that would take exceedingly long on a conventional serial computer. This enables one to model large-scale networks and/or run many simultaneous simulations, e.g. for parameter searching.
Limitations: A user must modify their scripts to take advantage of the capabilities of PGENESIS; this tool does not automatically run an arbitrary GENESIS script in parallel. Also, individual neurons cannot be split across processes.
